Governor Dr Joyce Laboso and her Deputy Dr Hillary Barchok on August 30th, 2018 hosted various donors in a round table dinner dubbed “One year on, delivering on the promise” to reach out for their support in uplifting the socio-economic statuses of the people of Bomet.
Dr Laboso took the donors through key achievements in agriculture, education, health, roads, trade, urban planning, water and environment, sports, youth and gender at the same time highlighting areas of possible support World Bank through Kenya Urban Support Program (KUSP) team leader
Abdu Muwonge said Sh 890 Million has been allocated to Bomet County to improve infrastructure in Bomet Municipality. Additional Sh 117 Million towards Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture Program (KCSAP) this financial year. Kenya Red Cross Secretary General, Abbas Gullet said his organization has signed a Sh 600 Million partnership agreement with Bomet County for the implementation of phase 2 of the Bomet Integrated Development Programme (BIDP) that will run for five years. Dennis Okore from INVEST in AFRICA-Kenya said “We will
empower local enterprises through SMES thus addressing youth unemployment in Bomet.” while UN Women Country Director Zebib Kavuma said her organization will continue partnering with Bomet in curbing gender-based violence cases. Other donors present included USAID Country Director Mark Andrew Meassick, Executive Director Hope World Wide- Kenya Malinda Wheeler, Safaricom Foundation, Huawei, IBM, World Vision International, Women Empowerment Link (WEL), KEMRI, The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNNCI) among others.
