Bomet Governor Dr Joyce Laboso has said 50 Early Childhood Development centres (ECDs) will be constructed across the 25 wards in the county within the next 90 days adding that another 100 centres will be put up in the next financial year.
The Governor said the county government had retained teachers to man the ECD centres in a bid to ensure that the children got a good educational foundation so as to be able to tackle life challenges in the future.
Dr Laboso was speaking yesterday while laying the foundation stone for the construction of an ECD centre at Kertai primary school in Bomet East Sub County.
She said that ECD centres constructed by the previous regime would be completed once an ongoing audit of development projects is completed.
“We have decided to proceed with the construction of new pre-school facilities so as we await for the release of the findings of the ongoing audit of development projects,” Dr Laboso stated.
The Governor was accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr Hillary Barchok, Longisa Member of County Assembly Mr Davis Langat and KNUT Bomet County branch Secretary Mr Mal el Langat, CECs Mrs Juliana Yegon (Education) and Mr Justus Maina (Administration).
