Bomet Governor Dr Joyce Laboso has said the County Government will pay school fess for 100 needy students joining Form One next month.

“Our Government will support four needy students from every ward, making a total of 100 new students receiving school fees for their secondary fees, and continue with the ones who are already in the bursary scheme,” said Dr Laboso.She was speaking while presiding over the Jamhuri Day celebrations at the Bomet Green Stadium.

The Governor also said her government has initiated talks with the Higher Education Loans Board to set up a revolving fund to assist needy students from Bomet County.

“We want to avoid university students dropping out or deferring their studies because oflack offees,” she said. Speaking during the event, the County Commissioner Mr Erastus Ekidor, who read President Uhuru Kenyatta’s speech, said the elections are now over and urged leaders and wananchi to avoid retrogressive politics and instead focus on development.

The celebrations were also attended by Deputy Governor Dr Hillary Barchok, Bomet Senator Christopher Langat, the leader of the Majority in the Bomet County Assembly Josphat Kimi and a host of other MCAs.
